LATENCES

The founding question

Why, despite the depth of its cultural, economic and human ties with West Asia, does Europe struggle to build credible and lasting mediation capacity in a region whose every crisis directly affects its societies, economy and security?

Through art, the circulation of narratives and lasting cooperation, LATENCES builds the cultural and relational conditions required for mutual understanding, trust and more credible mediation capacity between Europe and West Asia.

First phase of LATENCES

LISIÈRES

A first constellation bringing together six artists from West Asia, an active pairing between an established artist and an emerging artistic director, and a network of economic and territorial partnerships in development.

06

At least 5 artistic places to reactivate

A collective response built across several European cities

Four forces, one shared responsibility

Artists make perceptible realities that general discourse tends to simplify.

Emerging artistic directors take on real responsibility at professional scale alongside established artists.

Startups circulate stories of creation, migration, risk and innovation in relation to artistic trajectories.

Places receive new artistic, relational and economic circulation capable of activating their potential.

Entrepreneurial narratives in circulation

Each startup is connected to an artist, a trajectory or a place. Its story travels with the programme and becomes visible wherever that relationship carries meaning. At each stage, its participation takes the most relevant form: presence, narrative, encounter, resource or contribution.

Europe beyond its usual centres

LATENCES operates beyond Paris, Berlin and the major capitals. Each cycle works with at least five places across small and medium-sized cities, where presence, cooperation and resources can create lasting effects.
